How a Wholesale Reseller Automated Stock Sync From Its Suppliers
A wholesale reseller kept overselling items after a supplier ran out of stock—by the time someone noticed, the order was already placed with the customer.
The problem
Stock status lived in the supplier's own system with no webhook or API access. The only way to know was to check the supplier's site manually, which happened maybe once a week.
What they set up
A stock-sync rule watches supplier observations for an out-of-stock signal. When any (or, for a stricter rule, all) tracked suppliers for a product go out of stock, the recommendation flips the storefront listing—either as a review-first proposal or pushed straight to Shopify.
Outcome
Stock status now updates within a day of a supplier change instead of a week. Overselling incidents dropped to effectively zero for tracked suppliers.
