Shopify product import playbook: website, CSV, and live sync
A practical playbook for importing products into Shopify from any website, CSV/XML file, or supplier catalog—then keeping inventory live.

Step-by-step walkthrough
Pick the right import path
Use a website URL when the supplier has a storefront but no clean file. Use CSV/XML when you already have structured catalogs. Use both when you want a one-time catalog load plus ongoing stock/price monitoring.
- Website → Shopify: start at /shopify-import-products
- CSV → Shopify: start at /shopify-csv-import
- Ongoing stock: wire /shopify-inventory-sync after the first push
Map variants and media correctly
Commerce import fails when options, images, and SKUs are flattened. Scrapliy extracts variants as Shopify options and keeps image galleries attached to the right SKU before you publish.
Enrich before you publish
AI rewrite cleans titles and descriptions so the first Shopify draft is closer to sellable SEO content—not a raw scrape dump. Publish when quality gates pass, then keep a live feed or inventory sync running.
Internal links to keep handy
After import, most teams also publish a Google Merchant feed and turn on price monitoring for the same catalog.
- /product-feed and /google-merchant-feed for ads catalogs
- /shopify-price-monitor for competitor pricing
- /compare/csv-importers-vs-scrapliy for stakeholder buy-in
